FAQs

What should I expect during my first massage therapy visit?

All new clients will be required to fill out and sign a Consultation Form. The information you disclose on this form will give an understanding of your health and will allow the therapist to tailor the treatment to best suit your needs. Consultation Forms are taken at the beginning of the first treatment and are kept strictly confidential.

How will a massage feel?

At the beginning of each treatment the therapist will use a light pressure. This will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes more relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased on specific areas to relieve muscular tension. Do not hesitate to ask questions or mention if you feel any discomfort so that the massage therapist can use another approach or technique.

How will I feel after the massage therapy treatment?

Most people feel extremely relaxed. Some experience immediate freedom from long-term aches and pains. After this initial period of feeling deeply relaxed, a majority of  people experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity. This can last for several days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water following your massage.

How often should I get a massage?

This depends on your goals and your budget. For maintenance, many people will have a massage once a month. However, it is not uncommon for people to request a massage fortnightly, weekly or more. What is important is that you recognise and prioritise a regime of self-care for yourself. The health benefits that you will receive from massage are cumulative if availed of regularly.

What if I am late for my appointment?

If you are late for your appointment, it is possible that you may lose time from your treatment. The massage therapist has an obligation to honour the next scheduled appointment. If you need to cancel an appointment, 24 hours notice is required.

Must I undress for my massage?

You will be required to disrobe for a full body massage. However, for hygiene reasons undergarments are to be left on at all times during all treatments. Once you are undressed and on the massage table draped with a towel, the therapist will only uncover the part of your body being worked on. If reflexology or reiki are the only treatments required, disrobing will not be necessary.

What areas are worked on during a Massage?

A full body massage will include your back, legs, arms, hands, neck, shoulder, face and scalp.
